PICTURES!

So I never would have guessed how fast this time at home would fly by! We are finishing up with her first week of life already and just starting to adjust to this crazy schedule...if I can call it a schedule at all.  It is about time I updated you with some of the first photos of our sweet Avery!

This picture was taken just a few days before I gave birth.  This is me with James' sister, Sarah, and her youngest, Madeline.

James was awesome to take pictures immediately after the delivery.  Here are a couple to share...

More pictures from the hospital...

Avery in her vibrating chair...she loves it!

Avery in her swing...she loves this too!
Our friends Rachel and Ryan had their baby girl on Monday.  Jessica Margaret was 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches.  They will be great friends and only two days apart in age!  I love Jessica's hair!

We visited Rachel and Jessica on Thursday...and here they are, friends already!

With our struggles with breastfeeding, we are probably heading toward solely pumping the breast milk and feeding Avery by bottle.  We will then be able to make sure she is getting enough and not have to spend over an hour on each feeding.

I also wanted to share the link to see Avery's birth photos that were taken at the hospital.  She was so good during the photo session and the photos turned out great!

Here is the link to the photos:

We are loving every minute with Avery and she makes us smile and laugh every day!

More updates will come as Avery grows!

Avery Ann Unger!

I feel silly that it has taken me this long to update the blog, our news is already two days old!

Our beautiful baby, Avery Ann Unger, was born on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 7:33am. She was 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 inches long! The delivery was quicker than I had ever expected it to be. I started having mild contractions that I didn't think were even real around 6:00 pm on Friday evening. But my first "real" contractions (regular and strong) started shortly after 12:00 am on Saturday morning. We went to the hospital around 2:00 am, already dilated to 4cm, and five and a half hours later, our baby was here!

We are so overjoyed and in love! And have already begun to realize just how much of our time she will take...but she is so worth it!

Pictures have been hard to upload with the slow connection I have here at the hospital, so I promise to get you pictures once we are home! We will get discharged today after the doctors are in to see us!

Possible TMI...

I went in to have a wonderful mani pedi last evening as a way to spoil myself a bit! Numerous people told me there that manicures and pedicures often lead to labor and that I might just end up going into labor soon after! Well as soon as I got home I went to the bathroom and noticed a few small "chunks" of what I am thinking is my mucus plug. I don't think the whole thing came out...but hey, it's a step in the right direction!

I don't work until Monday now, so here's to maybe a labor filled weekend!?!??????

Week 39 Update...

Well I don't have any exciting news for you. Still only dilated to 2cm.

Even though last week she mentioned wanting to schedule an induction date at today's appointment, she discouraged it today. Inductions are more likely to lead to c-sections, but she said if I would be adamant, we could schedule an induction for next Tuesday. Well I decided against it. There's something exciting about not knowing when our baby will want to come on her own! And I haven't heard many good stories about inductions! So at this rate I will probably still be pregnant two weeks from now :) haha, hopefully not!

Next appointment is next Tuesday, 7/20 (the day after our due date). Hopefully baby will just come on her own before then!

Hopefully my next update will be a birth announcement!

Snoring? Me? Really?

Haha...I don't know why this is bothering me so much. I have always disliked others' snoring problems (well doesn't everybody?) I am such a light sleeper to begin with that snoring has always bothered me. So in a conversation with a friend yesterday, she asked me if I have been snoring with my pregnancy. I immediately say NO! And then James proceeds to tell me that I have been snoring A LOT...for months! What a sweetheart to never once complain about it to me! But it still bothers me that I NOW SNORE! I feel bad if I am interrupting my husband's sleep (which he says I'm not), but I appreciate that he doesn't wake me to shut me up!

Anyway, so there is just one more pregnancy symptom that I have and didn't even know it. Hopefully it will go away once I have the baby and lose this extra water retention!

Later!

50 percent effaced, 2 cm dilated!

Yay! I realize that dilation doesn't really mean anything at this point, but to me it is progress! We still have 11 more days until our due date and I'm hoping not to go past that date by much! The head is still down and I'm convinced that she'll stay in that position! Even with all of her wiggling around during the day (and at night), she has been consistently kicking me in my right side for the past two months. My doctor also said that the baby is "smaller" in size. This was nice to hear and I hope she is right since I'm hoping for an easy delivery! But isn't that what everyone hopes for!

My next appointment is on Tuesday, 7/13. Hopefully more news will come then!

Progress...maybe...

Well hey, I have one centimeter dilation! And baby is head down! I could not have asked for a better appointment. Everything looks great and I'm still feeling pretty good, just still slightly struggling with the pelvic pain. Some days are worse than others, but overall I can't complain. Weight gain to date is at 25 pounds...I've been told many times that I am "all baby", which is nice to hear, even if I don't feel that way :)

Me... 9 months pregnant...

We had our hospital tour on Monday as well. This really made the labor day seem so REAL. Obviously I know the day is just around the corner, but to be in the rooms and picturing what our time will be like there made reality set in, almost making me more nervous rather than easing any anxiety!

My next appointment is on Thursday next week. I'll get in touch with you again then!

Happy Independence Day and have a SAFE weekend!
